Vered Wolpaw '25 works at Harvey and Lewis Opticians
Vered Wolpaw '25 worked at a family owned Optometry Office over the summer
Allentown, PA (10/20/2022) — This past summer Vered Wolpaw '25 had the opportunity to work at Harvey and Lewis Opticians, the same optometry office where Wolpaw has purchased glasses and contacts from for years. She worked doing different jobs around the office and getting a feel for the general optometry field. Wolpaw worked at the front desk working answering the phone, booking appointments, and checking patients in for appointments.
"My favorite part of the job was the more clinical side when I got to take the patients back to the pretest room and run the autorefractor, take the pressures of their eyes using the eyecare machine, and take a picture of their retina using the optomap. Patients would ask me what I was testing and I got to explain how each of the tests works and what they tell the doctor. A few times during the summer I was able to shadow the doctor during the exam as well. Overall, this was a really amazing experience where I got to get a feel for many different areas of the optometry field. After graduating Muhlenberg I plan to attend optometry school and this experience solidified that this is a field I would enjoy working in."
