Summer Internship: Gabrielle Klausner shadows at two different Occupational Therapy practices
Gabrielle Klausner '24 shadows at the Children's Specialized Hospital Outpatient Center and CommuniKids pediatric practice in New Jersey.
Allentown, PA (10/10/2022) — This summer Gabrielle Klausner '24 spent her time shadowing at two different Occupational Therapy practices. One at the Children's Specialized Hospital Outpatient Center in Union, NJ, where she learned about OT in a clinical setting. Gabrielle also shadowed at CommuniKids in Summit, NJ, which is a private, pediatric practice. In the beginning of her shadowing expierience, she only observed, and overtime, she took a more of an active role in participating during sessions, including playing games with the patients and assisting the therapists.
"I am so grateful as I engaged in hands-on learning about what it means to be an Occupational Therapist. OT is the perfect combination of creativity, science, and care. I loved how OTs get to be so creative in supporting kids to reach their goals. With kids, it's like play with a purpose, with mindful science and intentionality behind every activity. How each activity helps a patient grow was incredibly eye-opening. Seeing the passion of these therapists was inspiring, and makes me excited to continue studying to become an Occupational Therapist."
